Roasted Garlic Hummus

Ditch the store bought hummus and make this simple and delicious Roasted Garlic Hummus made with garbanzo beans, roasted garlic, tahini, and lemon! It sure to become a favorite snack or appetizer!  

This rich and creamy Roasted Garlic Hummus is made with only a handful of ingredients. Make a batch at the beginning of the week for a quick-and-easy snack paired with fresh veggies and pita chips. You could also add a smear to a wrap or sandwich! You are going to love this recipe! 

Ingredients for Roasted Garlic Hummus

  • Garbanzo Beans: The recipe calls for 1 15.5oz can garbanzo beans. Be sure to rinse before using.
  • Tahini: I like to use a tahini that is made with 100% ground sesame seeds
  • Garlic: You will need to two heads of garlic.
  • Lemon: The recipe calls for both lemon zest and lemon juice.
  • Olive Oil: One tablespoon olive olive adds the perfect rich flavor to the hummus.
  • Salt & Pepper: Used to season the hummus.

Roasting the Garlic

Roasting the garlic is super simple and gives the hummus a slightly sweeter flavor. To roast the garlic, slice the top off of each garlic head. Place on a piece of aluminum foil. Drizzle with olive oil. Wrap the garlic in the aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet. Roast at 425 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until soft and golden brown.

Making Roasted Garlic Hummus

This Roasted Garlic Hummus recipe could not be easier to make. Here are the steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. 
  • Cut the tops of each garlic head to expose the cloves. Place on aluminum foil and drizzle with olive oil. Wrap the aluminum foil around the garlic. Place on baking sheet and roast for 35 to 40 minutes or until soft and golden brown. The cloves should squeeze right out.
  • To a food processor or blender, add the rinsed garbanzo beans, tahini, roasted garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Remove from blender and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
